Exercise changes everything, and there is definitely some exercises that are better than others. Not all exercises are created equal. When it comes to working out you want to know your getting the best bang for your buck. You want to do exercises that burn the most calories and help you lose the most weight in the fastest possible time.
There are many different exercises you can choose from but the best ones for weight loss are (hiit) or high interval intensity training and strength training.
According to a 2012 study done by pub med hiit burns 30 to 40 percent more calories than standard traditional cardio like running. It also boost your metabolism and has an afterburn affect that continues to burn calories after your workout is finished. The best types of hiit are sprinting, kickboxing, and rowing.
If you choose to perform hiit exercises you want to make sure your doing them correctly. The best way to do hiit is to work at maximum intensity for a short burst and then follow that up with a rest period.
For example: If you were to choose sprinting as your hiit workout you would want to sprint as fast as you can for 30 seconds and then walk for a minute and do this for about 20 to 30 minutes total, 3 times per week.
After you are doing hiit you might also want to add in some strength training which has been proven to burn more calories and help you lose more weight than standard cardio workouts like jogging or running on the treadmill. For strength training you can do weight lifting or body weight exercises.
The best types of strength training exercises are full body compound movements like deadlifting, barbell squats, bench press, push ups, pull ups, and weighted lunges. These are just a few that I recommend for weight loss. They use multiple muscle groups at once which burns more calories and helps build muscle mass. Plus they have a good afterburn affect just like hiit workouts, with these types of exercises you will not only burn the maximum amount of calories during your workout you will also burn calories all day long while your bodies at rest.
So what is the best workout for you to lose weight. Ulitmately whichever one you choose, hiit or strength training, I think the best workout is the one you will stick to for a long enough time period to see results. A workout that you enjoy and you like doing is important. In order to see results on the scale and lose weight you must be consistent with your exercises and do them at least 3 to 4 times per week. Weight loss takes time and even if you are consistent your body can only lose so much weight per week. The average weight loss you will see is 2-4 pounds per week. Anymore than that is unhealthy and too fast anyway. So choose either hiit workouts or strength training, or rotate both every other day and get to work. Stick with it and be consistent to see the best results.
Remember you also want get your diet under control if weight loss is your number one goal.
