We all know that hunger can get the better of us. You know exactly what I’m talking about. You start a diet with the best of intentions and before you know it your watching another episode of lost and eating a whole tub of Edy’s ice cream in the process. The next morning you wake up feeling like crap and wondering why you can’t break the vicious cycle. Too a lot of people it can seem like a losing battle. So is there a way to win the hunger war. Is there a hungry switch that you can just magically turn off? If only life were that simple. I wish it was but the truth is hunger is just a real pain in the butt. It’s hard wired into our genes. Nature doesn’t care about cosmetics. She does not care that you need to look good for your cousins wedding in two months. Our bodies our biologically programmed to overeat when there is excess food around. Simple as that. This is a good thing says Mother Nature. So that way you don’t starve to death during the next famine. That’s all great and wonderful if your Tarzan and you haven’t had any luck catching a wooly mammoth lately.
Unfortunately our genes do not evolve as a fast as Apple can come out with the lastest and greatest revolutionary iphone. If you have sense you get where I am going with this. Were just not designed for the modern world. Human beings were not built for computers and cubicles. Our genes just have not caught up with the technology of our time. So our modern world has created a sort of double edge sword. On the one hand it offers a breathera of technologies that gives us a push button lifestyle. And on the other hand our technology can really hurt us. Our lifestyles for the most part are sedentary. It takes a lot of energy to chase down a wooly mammoth. A drive to mcdonalds for a late night snack not so much. So moral of the story hunger sucks real bad, it’s programmed into your genes for you to overeat in case of a famine. So now you understand why your always driven to overeat. It’s really not your fault, you know how some diet gurus say you shouldn’t blame your genes, they lie. Your genes for the most part are the root of all dieting evil. They are the problem. Your programmed to overeat.
So is there anything you can do about it. Can you stop the hungry monster next time he comes knocking at your door trying to seduce you into eating half a chocolate cake.
Well to start you can eat a well balanced diet with a lot of fruits and veggies, that helps a great deal. But it’s usually not enough. You will still get hungry from time to time, and in a moment of weakness you’ve got to be ready. Remember what I talked about with your genes. Your progammed to overeat. It’s a survival mechanism. If there is extra food around your probably gonna devour it. Sometimes this happens unconsciously without you even realizing it. So it’s really not your fault. So stop blaming yourself. Here’s how you can fight back..
It’s called appetite suppressants, basically it’s a simple way to trick the mind and make you feel full and it works.
So if your feeling hungry and your about to overeat I have devised a list of my best appetite suppressants. These bad boys will hunt down your appetite and silence it.
So here are my favorite appetite suppressants.
Apples– Yes apples are loaded with fiber and pectin.
You virtually cannot overeat apples, its impossible, and even if you could a whole apple is only 80 calories. Go ahead try to eat 4 apples in a row you can’t do it. It totally slows down your appetite.
2. Pickles– How many calories are in a pickle like 10, eat as many as you want your not gonna gain an ounce. Pickles are considered A negative calorie food. It actually cost your body energy just to digest them.
3. Cucumbers– a relative of the pickle just without the pickle goodness, but if you’re a fan go right ahead, virtually no calories you can eat as many as you like.
4. Greens– Any type of green leafy veggies. Kale, spinach, romaine, and collard greens. If your feeling really hungry have a big salad it will trick your brain and make it think you just overate. Plus all green leafy vegetables are negative calories foods. Just go lite on the dressing or it defeats the whole purpose.
5. Soup– It’s mostly water anyhow, best soups are chicken soup or vegetable soup. They fill you right up and you haven’t really consumed that many calories.
6. Rice– Have you ever seen a fat Asian person. Nope, I didn’t think so. They eat a lot of rice. What happens to rice when you put it in water. It expands. Same thing happens when it goes in your stomach, it continues to expand in size and gives you a feeling of fullness.
So l learned these tricks through trial and error. I struggled with my weight most of my life and I would always overeat. These are some tools I developed too loose over 154 pounds so far.
